Job Summary

The Technical Project Manager - Electrical Systems is responsible for leading onsite technical execution and field operations for electrification projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements. This role serves as the primary field representative and technical authority, overseeing engineering activities, managing project documentation, coordinating issue resolution, and supporting project delivery from installation through final acceptance. The Senior Technical Project Manager collaborates with customers, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of customer satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities



  • Plan and coordinate site engineering activities to ensure alignment with project requirements, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Serve as the primary onsite technical authority and field representative, conducting inspections to verify installation, assembly, and commissioning activities comply with engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Facilitate technical issue resolution and maintain project schedules and milestones.
  • Lead field documentation activities, including punch lists, pre-task plan verification, safety walkdowns, and compliance reviews.
  • Monitor compliance with safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including photographs, checklists, punch items, and status reports.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to leadership, customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary onsite point of contact and escalate issues as necessary to protect project timelines and customer relationships.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting support for electrical systems and basic mechanical and controls systems.
  • Manage project closeout activities and secure customer acceptance and signoff in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, trade labor, and multidisciplinary field teams.
  • Support short-term and long-term business objectives through technical leadership and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of 10 years of construction or field experience, preferably within electrical systems environments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and maintaining a zero-incident culture.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, trade labor, and multidisciplinary field teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, and one-line electrical diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), and switchgear systems.
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and Energy Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Proficiency with project planning and scheduling tools, including Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar software preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence and manage cross-functional and matrixed teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
  • Customer-focused approach with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.


Education



  • Completion of at least two years of trade school, college coursework, or equivalent journeyman experience required.
