The Image Management Systems - Dental (IMSD) team provides systems engineering, analysis, and technical support to the Defense Health Agency PM Medical Devices and Equipment (MDE) PMO of

DHA Medical Products. This position is responsible for deploying, sustaining, and supporting dental imaging solutions across the DHA dental clinics. The candidate will work under the direction of the MDE leadership team alongside engineers supporting all branches of the DHA.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with a dedicated team of engineers providing technical support to 29 US Coast Guard dental clinics and some Air Force locations.
  • Provide Tier I through Tier IV support for the dental imaging systems deployed across DHA dental clinics primarily between 8am - 5pm EST.
  • Provide effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of dental imaging systems, hardware, software and related supporting infrastructure located at the dental units.
  • Install and configure Apteryx Xray Vision DCV or MiPACS Viewer on workstations.
  • Install and configure plugins and drivers for dental equipment on the viewer workstations.
  • Taskings may include:

    • Maintain the cybersecurity posture of the deployed systems, working at the direction of the DHA ISSOs.
    • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible vulnerabilities; configure / add new security solutions, as necessary.
    • Perform monthly security patching of all USCG servers and workstations. Routinely scan systems and remediate configuration settings when new Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) are released.
    • Build and rebuild servers and workstations, configuring the hardware, software, images, and peripherals in accordance with MDE standards and project/operational requirements.
    • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
    • Apply operating system (OS) upgrades as needed, and maintain administrative tools and utilities as required.
    • Coordinate with onsite administrators and staff to accomplish these tasks, travel to customer sites as required.
    • Create, modify, and deactivate Coast Guard user accounts within DHA Active Directory.
    • Coordinate IT equipment upgrades, planning, and collaboration with customer sites for travel and installation. Including warehouse storage, imaging, configuration, and shipping.

  • Ensure system hardware, operating and software systems, and related procedures adhere to DHA standards.
  • Participate in technical research and development initiatives to promote continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend innovative technologies and automation opportunities to improve system administration efficiency and scalability.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resource optimization, key processes, application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures; coordinate and communicate with impacted Dental Clinics and System teams to restore services. Image, configure, and ship replacement equipment as needed.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization; configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as needed.
  • Serve as a member of the MDE Systems Administrator team, supporting enterprise infrastructure initiatives as required.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, evenings and weekends on a monthly basis, periodically with little advanced notice.
  • Periodically travel to customer sites to provide on-site support.
  • Support other tasks as needed and assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must possess a current, favorably adjudicated NACLC, Tier 3, or higher background investigation or be eligible to obtain an interim Public Trust while undergoing required investigation.
  • Must have at least one of the following credentials: CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, Network+
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience as a Systems Administrator/Engineer.
  • Experience with cyber security compliancy tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Experience working in a distributed PACS environment.
  • Experience with Medicor Imaging MiPACS Storage Server Manager and Client Viewer.
  • Experience with Apteryx XrayVision DCV Viewer and XVHost PACS server.
  • Experience with dental modalities both intraoral and extraoral.
  • Experience with VMware, PowerShell, Active Directory.
  • Experience with Trellix, Cloudstrike, MECM, SCAP, Nessus, ACAS, and eMASS.

Physical and/or Mental Qualifications:

  • Effectively communicate with customers, stakeholders, and technical specialists.
  • This position requires the ability to access computer system and related equipment, connections and able to transport objects or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
