DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps maintain the cleanliness and safety of the Northwest Office Building and nearby areas. The work supports staff, visitors, and building operations by keeping spaces clean and ready for use. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Building Cleaning: Clean and disinfect offices, stairwells, restrooms, tables, chairs, glass surfaces, blinds, and floors
- Trash Handling: Empty waste cans, replace liners, collect trash, and move trash barrels to pickup locations
- Equipment Operation: Operate equipment such as floor machines, automatic scrubbers, forklifts, and vacuums
- Outdoor Care: Remove snow and ice, apply ice melt, wash pavements, and clean outdoor receptacles and walkways
- Supply Support: Deliver supplies, run errands, and maintain cleanliness of fleet vehicles
- Safety Response: Respond to emergencies, follow safety protocols, and participate in fire safety activities

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Additional Requirements:
- You must be willing and able to work in Dauphin County.
- You must be willing to work full-time.
- You must be willing to work 7:30 AM- 4:00 PM.
- You must have experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, and buffing, etc.).
- You must have experience removing snow, trash, and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways.
- You must have experience using and mixing chemicals or solvents.
- You must have experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax, and buff floors.
- You must have custodial work experience in environments such as an activity/recreation room, bathroom/shower or bathing room, cafeteria/dining room setting, entranceway/lobby/common space, nursing station, patient/resident rooms, pharmacy, or physical therapy rooms.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation. An applicant with a felony conviction within the last ten years of their prospective date of employment is not permitted to work for the PLCB, per section 210(c) of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code. Other criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
