THE POSITION

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Liquor Store General Manager 2B to lead the operations of our Fine Wine & Good Spirits store on South Second Street in Philadelphia. This role invites you to supervise staff, manage resources, and support high-quality customer service.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the store's performance, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving operational success. You will be a key leader, overseeing day-to-day activities, developing a high-performing team, and implementing strategies to exceed sales targets while maintaining a top-tier store environment. As a Liquor Store General Manager 2B, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Guidance: Lead, direct, and manage daily activities; monitor work quality; and provide training, feedback, and coaching to ensure team members have the skills and knowledge to succeed
  • Store Operations: Handle cash management, sales reporting, inventory management, and maintain accurate records
  • Customer Service: Assist customers with product selection, alternatives, special orders, and recommendations
  • Collaborative Planning: Work with broader management to develop and implement effective sales and operational strategies
  • Store Conditions: Ensure displays, signage, and shelves follow approved guidelines and maintain a clean, safe, welcoming environment for all customers and staff
  • Teamwork Leadership: Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment where staff are engaged, motivated, and aligned with store objectives

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Free - Limited Off-Street Parking
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours will vary, totaling 75 hours biweekly.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Liquor Store Assistant Manager 3 or a Liquor Store General Manager 2A (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years as a Liquor Store Assistant Manager 2 or a Liquor Store General Manager 1B (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years as a Liquor Store Assistant Manager 1 or a Liquor Store General Manager 1A (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years as a Liquor Store Clerk 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of lead or supervisory retail sales work.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation. An applicant with a felony conviction within the last ten years of their prospective date of employment is not permitted to work for the PLCB, per section 210(c) of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code. Other criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
