Responsibilities

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington is seeking a talented and dynamic Director of Business Development to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals!

The Psychiatric Institute of Washingtonprovides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PIW is a 130 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial andintensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in the safe, historical Tenleytown neighborhood, PIW is one mile from the Tenleytown Metro stop and within walking distance to local cafes and restaurants.

The Registered dietician plans, directs, and provides nutritional care to patients, conducts nutrition assessments, plans master menus and menus for therapeutic diets for hospital patients from ages 5-65+, employees, and visitors.

  • Supervises all nutritional aspects of patient care, menus and therapeutic menus.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, conferences, and professional affiliations.
  • Conducts monitoring and evaluation program that complies with established standards of regulating agencies.
  • Exhibits optimistic attitude to client and staff at all times.
  • Provides adequate dietary orientation program that includes skills training specific to the job function.
  • Ensures all state, federal, JCAHO and hospital standards are met consistently.
  • Determines if staff is following appropriate menu/production system and using it effectively.
  • Complete weekly groups which consist of informative nutritional programs for patient care.
  • Complete all required documentation for patient care assessments
  • Develop group curriculum for nutritional programs for patients
  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or Nutrition.
  • Current registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; Licensed in the District of Columbia.
  • Minimum of One (1) year related experience as a Clinical Dietitian.
  • Knowledge of dietetics, nutrition, administration and operation of hospital food services.
  • Must be familiar with methods of teaching and principles of education and must possess thorough knowledge of theory and practice of dietetics including physiology and digestion processes of the human body.
  • Ability to maintain good working relations among personnel supervised. Tact and cooperation involved in person-to-person relationships with personnel of other departments, other hospital and professional associations, and with physicians in planning diet therapy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to operating officials, staff, and patients.
