Description

Under the direction ofthe Supervising Gaming Agents, the Gaming Agent I reviews the activities of a licensed gaming facility, with a focus on certifying revenue. The individualis responsible forestablishingand maintaining professional relationships with the operators and managers of thecasinos andmaintainingconstant communication withSupervisorsin their assigned casino. The Gaming Agent I also works closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. The Gaming Agent I conducts regulatory investigations and prepares complex, detailed reports.

Gaming Agent - Encore Boston
Shift: Schedule rotates 4 days-on, 2 days-off.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist Supervising Gaming Agents with the recommendation and creation of policies and procedures within the IEB's Gaming Agent unit.
  • Observe operations and records of the casino property, including:

    o Monitor activities in the count room and cage for the purpose of monitoring revenue and compliance with regulations and applicable laws

    o Review and audit casino records, including accounting records for the purpose of identifying deficiencies and inconsistencies in casino internal controls

    o Observe the gaming floor for suspicious activity

    o Review slot machine activity for inconsistencies in functionality

  • Track and report on all items reviewed:

    o Report any instances of noncompliance and participate in IEB investigations into these matters.

    o Cooperate with officers assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Unit and other members of law enforcement as needed on investigations into and prosecution of criminal activity.

    o When necessary, provide testimony in hearings or court proceedings.

  • Listen to concerns and complaints from patrons and members of the public and collaborate with licensees and other gaming officials, and/or law enforcement to resolve those complaints.
Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent listening skills and the ability toreceiveinstruction from multiple supervisors.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Minimum Experience, Education, and Training:

High school diploma or equivalent and minimum three years working in an office or casino environment; or a bachelor's degree; or an equivalent of education and experience.

A successful candidate for this position has passed an extensive background check conducted by the Massachusetts State Police. The background check includes a full credit check, CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), fingerprinting, drug test, reference checks, review of IRS Income Tax Transcripts for the last four years, and a Certificate of Good Standing from the Massachusetts Dept. of Revenue (DOR).

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is responsible for the implementation of the expanded gaming law (Chapter 194 of the Acts of 2011) and regulatory oversight of G.L. chapter 23K (casino gaming), chapter 23N (sports wagering), and chapter 128A (horse racing). Under these laws, the Commission is tasked with establishing a regulatory framework for the solicitation, licensing, taxation, and oversight of a maximum of three casino licenses and one slots parlor only license, the provision of in-person and digital sports wagering, and the live and simulcasting of horse racing in Massachusetts.
