Position Location
This position will be located onsite at the Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.
Job Overview
The HVAC Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration systems. This position provides leadership to HVAC technicians, ensures compliance with safety regulations and building codes, maintains high-quality workmanship, and supports efficient facility operations.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of HVAC technicians and contractors.
- Plan, assign, and prioritize preventive maintenance, repairs, and installation projects.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and applicable codes.
- Troubleshoot complex HVAC system issues and provide technical guidance to technicians.
- Monitor work orders and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Maintain inventory of HVAC equipment, tools, and replacement parts.
- Develop preventive maintenance schedules to maximize equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Prepare work schedules, performance evaluations, and employee development plans.
- Train, mentor, and develop HVAC personnel to improve technical skills and productivity.
- Coordinate with other maintenance departments, vendors, and customers to minimize operational disruptions.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and controlling maintenance expenses.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, and documentation.
- Respond to emergency service calls and provide after-hours support as required.
- Promote a safe work environment through regular safety meetings and inspections.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in HVAC preferred.
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.
- Valid driver's license.
- Five (5) or more years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience.
- Two (2) or more years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, refrigeration, and building automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficient with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
