Position Overview This part-time position requires a 5% to 10% time commitment. HDR is seeking a Regional Traffic Engineering Business Class Lead to guide the growth, diversification, and overall performance of traffic engineering services across the region. This role is responsible for expanding capabilities in traffic design, traffic analysis, and safety studies through service diversification and geographic growth This position partners closely with Regional, Area, and Business Class leadership to align services with client needs and market drivers. It is responsible for developing and executing growth strategies, aligning staffing and technical capabilities with market opportunities, and advancing professional services with improved technical competencies, best practices, and consistent, high-quality outcomes. Responsibilities
- Drive growth of the regional traffic practice through service expansion, diversification of capabilities, and geographic expansion
- Identify emerging opportunities and align staffing, technical capabilities, and service offerings to meet evolving client needs
- Promote innovation and best practices in traffic engineering, analysis, and safety
- Lead and support business development efforts to expand and diversify traffic engineering services
- Support client management strategies and represent HDR with clients, industry organizations, and at key events
- Partner with Regional and Area leadership on staffing, workload balancing, and utilization management
- Build and strengthen technical depth within the regional traffic team while aligning organization structure with growth priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree (MSCE or related field)
- PTOE and/or RSP certification
- Experience leading regional or multi-office programs and growing engineering services
- Strong relationships with DOTs and municipal agencies
- Active participation in professional organizations (ITE, TRB, etc.)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in ITS and traffic engineering for urban and rural highways, major and minor interchanges and intersections

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example:
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. - Knowledge of regulations of state and federal transportation agencies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience using HCS, CORSIM, Synchro/SIM Traffic and other software packages
- Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and ability to work in a team environment
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
