Air Products Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an opening for a Site Supervisor at its Baytown II Industrial Gases facility.

The Baytown II facility consists of a large Air Separation Unit (ASU), merchant trailer loading, hydrogen PSA Unit and compression, steam boiler and utility systems. The ASU is an integral part of Air Product's Gulf Coast O2 and N2 pipeline networks and produces Liquid Nitrogen, Argon and Oxygen which are transported to our merchant customers. The Baytown II operations team also provides support for two local satellites in the greater Houston area.

The Baytown II Site Supervisor is part of the Baytown operations leadership team and is responsible for daily plant operations, safety and environmental compliance, budget planning / cost review, and well as employee training and development.

You will report to the Baytown II Site Superintendent and will directly lead the Baytown II operations team which includes operations technicians, maintenance technicians, and contractors. You will work closely with regional maintenance leadership, our Customer Service Center, and regional engineers to resolve plant issues in a timely manner while ensuring the facility meets its safety and reliability goals.

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:
  • Deliver all objectives safely and achieve 100% compliance with Air Products' safety
  • Focus on safety performance by actively engaging our team and contractors in all aspects of our Basic Safety Processes
  • Provide Safety, Health, Quality and Environmental training to our team and ensure compliance with all company, State, and Federal Standards
  • Support of all aspects of the day-to-day operation that will include troubleshooting plant process problems, supervising daily plant activities, month end closing and driving plant projects
  • Investigating incidents and near misses, understanding and correcting root causes of failures
  • Work with the site team to ensure all aspects of Operational Field are implemented and applied
  • Understanding safe operating, design, permit limits; actively practice alarm management
  • Use and update P&IDs, ensure P&ID literacy is achieved
  • Skills and knowledge to implement eMOC/Jumper Bypass
  • Familiarization with the process technology and chemistry
  • Implement and share standards, train in their use and learn from incidents and investigation
  • Develop and build a strong relationship with the operators and maintenance personnel
  • Develop annual budget and review monthly costs
  • Identifying maintenance concerns, develop and implement corrective measures with maintenance team as well as following and carrying out site preventative maintenance and mechanical integrity programs
  • Develop site talent
  • Develop and build a strong relationship with onsite customers, customer-facing groups and the community
Minimum Hiring Requirements:
  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering, military experience, or 5+ years of operations experience in similar plants or operations of similar complexity are considered a plus
  • Self-starter with tried leadership abilities and communication skills
  • A track record of success on Safety, Environmental, Quality and Employee Involvement
  • Ability to lead multiple reporting programs and initiatives
  • Commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity
  • Passion for continuous improvement
  • Strong communication (oral and written), organizational, guiding skills and PC skills mandatory (SAP and Enablon a plus)
