Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Monitor for and operate in compliance with established state/federal and KAPL regulations all New York State permitted hazardous/mixed waste storage facilities at KS, including on-going facility inspections, reviewing/performing characterization, sampling, and packaging of waste Prepare radioactive waste for disposal, including waste minimization operations (e.g. segregation, disassembly) Provide support functions for conducting radiological work (e.g. anti-c storage, vacuum building/testing) Maintain high efficiency filter systems, including velocity and efficiency testing Operate all related equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks including forklift and evaporation systems Perform lockout/tag out procedures as required for assigned tasks Inspect and document deficiencies in assigned waste storage areas at KS Train personnel on applicable waste management practices and assist in other waste management training programs Maintain electronic and written records on areas of assigned responsibility Respond to and assist in emergencies of radiological or environmental nature (e.g. Asbestos, paint chips, chemicals) Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill High School diploma or equivalent Preferred Skills Experience with hazardous waste Experience with radioactive contamination Hazmat experience for emergency response Fork truck operator experience Compensation and Benefits Health, Dental, Vision & Voluntary Benefits Disability, Life & Accident Insurance 401(k) Savings program & Capital Accumulation Plan Personal & Medical Time Off Paid Parental Leave Flexible Work Schedules Tuition Assistance for Eligible Employees Student Debt Benefit Personal Time Off Sell Program Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Wellness Program Visit us online to view all NNL benefits! Pay Range $37.13 hourly Jobs categorized as subject to a collective bargaining agreement will adhere to the pay rates, wage increases, progression schedules, and other parameters identified and negotiated in said agreements. Wages and other compensation details are subject to change based negotiated changes to the collective bargaining agreements.
