Job Summary

The Logistics Technician is responsible for supporting shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehouse operations while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, accuracy, and productivity. This role receives and processes incoming shipments, prepares outbound shipments, manages inventory transactions, and operates material handling equipment to ensure efficient movement of materials. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and experienced in logistics operations within a regulated warehouse environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Receive, inspect, verify, and process incoming shipments.
  • Transfer materials to and from designated storage locations.
  • Unpackage, unpalletize, and organize incoming products and materials.
  • Prepare materials and products for shipment according to company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare cylinders for shipment by removing labels, painting as required, inspecting, wrapping valves, applying labels, scanning barcodes, and palletizing products.
  • Complete shipping and receiving transactions accurately within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper inventory transactions and cycle counting.
  • Prepare shipping documentation in accordance with company policies and applicable transportation regulations.
  • Coordinate material pickups and deliveries with carriers and internal locations.
  • Operate forklifts to safely load and unload trucks and move materials throughout the warehouse.
  • Load and unload ocean containers using approved blocking and bracing techniques.
  • Maintain accurate inventory control records and investigate inventory discrepancies.
  • Escalate safety, quality, or operational concerns to management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and safe warehouse environment.
  • Follow established work instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety policies.
  • Participate in required safety meetings and complete all assigned training.
  • Support warehouse security and operational efficiency.
  • Provide excellent customer service while collaborating with multiple departments.
  • Work overtime as business needs require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in logistics, shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, or inventory management.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current forklift certification required.
  • Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory control, and ERP systems.
  • Strong customer service, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of handling procedures for chemicals and compressed gases.
  • Experience with IMO, AES, and ISF shipping documentation preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT, IATA, IMDG, 49 CFR, and 15 CFR regulations preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Proficiency with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to complete all required safety and job-related training.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and perform warehouse duties throughout the workday.
  • Ability to pass required medical and respiratory evaluations for respirator use when required.


Education



  • High school diploma or GED required.


Work Experience



  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in logistics, warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, or inventory management.
  • Experience working in regulated warehouse or distribution environments preferred.
  • Experience operating forklifts and material handling equipment required.
  • Experience with ERP systems and inventory management preferred.
