The Palliative Care Practice of MaineHealth Medical Group (MHMG) is seeking an experienced palliative care physician to join our growing interdisciplinary team in a blended clinical and leadership role as Associate Medical Director of Palliative Care. This unique opportunity is ideal for a physician who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient- and family-centered care while expanding their leadership impact through program development, quality improvement, recruitment, mentorship, and strategic growth initiatives.

This position offers:

  • A unique opportunity for a physician leader to partner with the Senior Medical Director and operational leadership team to help shape the future of specialty palliative care across MaineHealth while maintaining an active clinical practice.
  • The Associate Medical Director will provide inpatient and\or ambulatory palliative care services and partner closely with practice and physician leadership to support strategic growth, clinical excellence, quality improvement, provider development, and program innovation.
  • Protected administrative time is provided to support Associate Medical Director responsibilities, including leadership development, program initiatives, recruitment, and quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in physician recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, and provider development initiatives.
  • Working alongside an interdisciplinary team, the MHMG Palliative Care Practice is poised to meet the growing demand for high-quality specialty palliative care services across MaineHealth.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient care and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Interest and enthusiasm for medical leadership, quality improvement, and program development.
  • Previous leadership experience is welcomed but not required.

At MaineHealth, we recognize the value each team member brings to our organization. Total compensation packages may include, based on eligibility, recruitment payments, relocation assistance, productivity incentives, and quality incentives.

The annual base salary for this position is $265,000.
