CLASS TITLE: QA Specialist
LOCATION: Charlotte, NC
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Tech Support and Warehouse Operations
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: The role of the QA Technician position is to test and verify new units that are shipped in from headquarters in Finland. Also test and repair equipment that has been returned from Trade Shows, Charity Events, and Customer Returns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Compiles returns data and productivity metrics on a monthly and adhoc basis.
- Analyzes returns data, including unneeded parts, to determine actions plans (e.g. feedback to manufacturing sites, updates to the Wiki, etc.).
- Reviews equipment inspection, configuration, and calibration data and generates reports for the Quality Manager and manufacturing sites.
- Assesses returned equipment, determines the disposition (e.g. recertify, scrap, etc.), and priorities activities with the Customer Service Manager.
- Provides recommendations on how to improve the customer experience.
- Verify overall appearance of equipment
- Verify mechanical functionality of the equipment
- Calibrate equipment within strict tolerances
- Test and repair equipment
- Work with Sr. QA Technician on equipment time schedule
- Assist other QA technicians if they are having issues
- Keep tools in working condition
- Keep work area clean
- Assist other departments if assistance is needed
- Meets company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures
- Adheres to company policies, procedures and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience
- Bachelors or Associates Degree (preferred) or High School Degree with experience is required.
- Experience working in a Quality Assurance or Returns department is preferred.
- Experience working in Manufacturing or Warehouse environment.
- Experience with Salesforce a plus.
- Proficient in Computers including Microsoft Office
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Proven organizational skills and ability to meet targets, goals, timelines, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Proficient in Computers including Microsoft Office.
- Experience analyzing data in Microsoft Excel (charts, graphs, formulas, Pivot Tables, etc.) is required.
- Basic knowledge of statistics (mean, standard deviation, median, mode, etc.) is required.
- Experience with Salesforce.com a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Access a plus.
- Experience with SharePoint lists is a plus.
- Experience initiating and completing corrective action reports (CAR's) a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, a few weekends per year
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended period of time
- Ability to sit. Squat, bend and stand
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work environment of the position is in a professional office environment and warehouse environment at principal place of business.
