IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Naperville, IL. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry while working closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants on real project work.

This internship supports work within project budgets and cross-functional collaboration to help meet project goals and client expectations. You'll also contribute to documentation, coordination, final-check preparation, addenda, and periodic job site observations while supporting projects across education, government, and healthcare settings.

What You'll Do

* Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards

* Assist with researching commercially available equipment

* Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files

* Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers

* Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress

* Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check

* Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information

* Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement

What You'll Bring

Required

Education

* Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required

Experience

* None required

Required Skills/Abilities

* Strong interest in design consulting

* Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook

* Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (Building Information Model) software

* Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

* Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Salary:

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour.
