About This Role

This position will assist with the management of the Universal Time and Leave System. This position will assist with other current HR initiatives as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Serve as an HR Partner to university employees, supervisors, department timekeepers and stakeholders on timekeeping and leave administration.

* Review, audit, and process employee time records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with university payroll deadlines.

* Monitor timecard transactions for exempt and non-exempt employees.

* Identify, research, and resolve timekeeping discrepancies, missing punches, incorrect pay codes added to timecards, leave balances, and discrepancies between the time and leave system and actual paycheck.

* Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate corrections prior to payroll processing.

* Process retroactive time corrections and maintain supporting documentation in accordance with university record retention requirements.

* Monitor overtime, compensatory time, holiday pay, shift differential, and other premium pay to ensure compliance with university policy and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

* Verify appropriate approvals are obtained for time and leave transactions before payroll submission.

* Assist departments with payroll reconciliations related to timekeeping activities.

Together, these teams partner with campus units to provide responsive HR support, enhance organizational effectiveness, and help attract, develop, and retain a talented workforce.


Worksite Description

This position is Hybrid eligible.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and three years of relevant experience.
  • Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to determine priorities, exercise sound judgement, and work independently
  • Willingness to learn new software, develop additional skills, and engage in professional development
  • Ability to exercise discretion and uphold confidentiality
  • Demonstrated background or knowledge of human resource processes and policies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
