Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Industrial Athletic Trainer to join our Green Bay, WI team. This role will support 3 facilities in the local Green Bay area. This position reports directly to the Manager of Safety/Health Services.

As a key member of the onsite Occupational Healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in reducing work-related injuries and helping get injured workers back on the job faster. You will assist in evaluating workers' physical condition and their work environment, identifying potential hazards that could cause or contribute to injuries.


Our Team

The Green Bay Mills manufacture and distribute leading commercial and retail brands of paper products (bath tissue, napkins, and towels). The Broadway and Packerland mills have approximately 1000 employees and approximately 600 business support employees who provide engineering, transportation, data processing, and customer service support. Every day, GP employees and products help maintain a strong, stable economy in Northeastern Wisconsin.


What You Will Do

  • Lead on-site injury prevention and early intervention programs, including pre-shift stretching, wellness coaching, and body mechanics education.
  • Perform ergonomic assessments throughout manufacturing operations, identify risk factors, and recommend practical solutions that improve employee safety and performance.
  • Partner with Occupational Health, Safety, Human Resources, and medical providers to analyze injury trends and implement initiatives that reduce workplace risk.
  • Support daily occupational health clinic activities and employee care programs.
  • Provide first aid treatment for musculoskeletal and non-musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses in accordance with Physician Standing Orders, including evaluating range of motion, strength, reflexes, sensory integrity, and functional status.
  • Identify, evaluate, and coordinate care for injured employees, ensuring they receive appropriate treatment and support.
  • Monitor employees participating in conservative treatment and return-to-work programs, supporting medical restrictions and ergonomic accommodations.
  • Assist with Workers' Compensation case management, claim capture, and follow-up activities.
  • Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective ergonomic solutions.
  • Travel between local facilities as needed to support operations.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support as business needs require.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training, Ergonomics, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
  • Experience working in occupational health, healthcare, manufacturing, industrial safety, or a related environment.
  • Knowledge of ergonomics risk assessment tools and workplace safety programs.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT), licensed in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Board of Certification (BOC) credential or equivalent ergonomic certification, e.g. NATBOC
  • Experience in occupational health within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with risk assessment tools and injury prevention program management.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Workers' Compensation, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN/COHN-S) and/or Case Management designation.
