Job Description The Tschumper research group in the Department of Chemistry is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in computational quantum chemistry. The successful candidate will have a strong publication record and computational chemistry expertise that compliment active research projects in the Tschumper lab. Key Responsibilities With minimal supervision, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct computational and theoretical research for assigned projects in the group
- Interpret/extract physical meaning from the results of the computations/simulations
- Write manuscripts for publication in scientific journals
- Provide training and assist in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students in the group
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field before the appointment begins, with a specialty in computational or theoretical quantum chemistry
- Significant research experience and a strong publication track record in the discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated track record of research productivity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Outstanding computer skills in Linux
- The ability to work effectively in a group as part of the team
- Experience with popular electronic structure theory packages (such as Gaussian, Molpro, PSI4, CFOUR, ORCA, GAMESS, NWChem, VASP, Quantum Espresso, etc.)
- Experience with one or more common scripting/programming languages for scientific research (such as Python, C++, etc.)
