Process Engineering Manager Job Purpose: The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for leading manufacturing process development, continuous improvement, and operational excellence initiatives across metal fabrication and assembly operations supporting the production of data center racks, cabinets, enclosures, and related electronic and mechanical infrastructure components. This role drives world-class manufacturing performance through the application of Sanmina's 42Q, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Industry 4.0 technologies, and advanced process engineering methodologies. The Process Engineering Manager leads a team of manufacturing and process engineers focused on improving safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance across all manufacturing processes. The position partners closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Product Engineering teams to support new product introductions (NPI), manufacturing optimization, and strategic capacity expansion initiatives. Nature of Duties:
Manufacturing Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Lead implementation and deployment of Sanmina's 42Q, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies across fabrication, welding, painting, and assembly operations.
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement utilizing DMAIC, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Visual Management, 5S, SMED, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
- Drive improvements in OEE, labor productivity, throughput, first-pass yield, and manufacturing cost.
- Develop and implement annual productivity roadmaps supporting operational and financial objectives.
- Lead manufacturing optimization projects focused on waste elimination, flow improvement, inventory reduction, and lead-time compression.
Process Engineering Leadership
- Manage and develop a team of Process, Manufacturing, and Industrial Engineers.
- Establish process standards, manufacturing specifications, and best practices across multiple production lines.
- Develop manufacturing strategies that improve process capability, repeatability, and scalability.
- Drive process validation and capability studies utilizing SPC, Cp/Cpk analysis, MSA, and statistical methods.
- Implement engineering controls to improve process stability and product quality.
Manufacturing Optimization
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across all manufacturing processes, i.e.: Laser Cutting, Punching, Press Brake Forming and Bending, Robotic Welding, MIG/TIG Welding, Grinding and Finishing, Powder Coating Preparation, Mechanical Assembly, Electromechanical Assembly, Final Integration and Test.
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Partner with Product Engineering to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles are incorporated into product development.
- Lead manufacturing readiness reviews for new products and customer programs.
- Develop routings, work instructions, process flows, PFMEAs, control plans, and process validations.
- Support rapid scaling of new data center infrastructure products and customer programs.
Industry 4.0 & Digital Manufacturing
- Lead implementation of Sanmina's 42Q and other smart manufacturing technologies.
- Utilize manufacturing data analytics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support MES, ERP, machine monitoring, and real-time production reporting systems.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives supporting predictive maintenance, quality analytics, and manufacturing visibility.
Quality & Operational Performance
- Partner with Quality teams to improve process capability and customer satisfaction.
- Lead root cause investigations using 8D, A3, Fishbone, and 5 Why methodologies.
- Establish KPI dashboards and performance management systems.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related technical field.
- 6+ years of manufacturing engineering and process improvement experience in metal fabrication environments.
- 5+ years of leadership experience.
- Experience supporting high-volume and mixed-model manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and assembly processes.
- Strong experience leading process engineering utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Methodologies
- Proven experience of process and manufacturing improvements projects
- Strong knowledge on PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, Capacity Modeling, Manufacturing Automation, ERP/MES Systems
- Preferred experience in the automotive, aerospace or other highly technical manufacturing environment
