508 Compliance Specialist Job Locations
US-Remote
Overview LMI is seeking an experienced Section 508 Compliance Specialist to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) enterprise contact center technology training initiative. This is a remote position responsible for ensuring that all training products and project deliverables provided to VA are designed, developed, tested, remediated, and delivered in accordance with applicable Section 508 accessibility requirements. The Section 508 Compliance Specialist will work across the entire curriculum development and training production team, including curriculum designers, curriculum writers/editors, multimedia developers, instructional designers, technical SMEs, and training operations personnel. The position will serve as the project team's primary point of contact for accessibility matters and will coordinate directly with VA staff as appropriate to clarify requirements, resolve accessibility issues, and support acceptance of training products. The Specialist will evaluate deliverables in multiple formats, including documents, presentations, PDFs, videos, multimedia, e-learning content, graphics, and other digital learning products intended for deployment through VA's Talent Management System (TMS) or other VA-approved platforms. LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed. Leveraging our mission-ready technology and solutions, proven expertise in federal deployment, and strategic relationships, we enhance outcomes for the government efficiently and effectively. With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors-helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value. Responsibilities The Section 508 Compliance Specialist will provide end-to-end accessibility assurance throughout the curriculum development lifecycle rather than functioning solely as a final-stage compliance reviewer. The specialist will establish accessibility standards and quality-control procedures, advise development team members on accessible design practices, conduct automated and manual accessibility testing, document findings, coordinate remediation, and validate corrected products prior to delivery to VA. The successful candidate will understand that accessibility must be incorporated into the design and production process from the beginning and will work closely with multimedia developers, curriculum writers/editors, and curriculum designers to prevent accessibility issues before products reach final review. The Specialist will also maintain appropriate compliance documentation and test results and serve as the project-level subject matter expert and liaison for VA accessibility requirements. Key Responsibilities
Establish and maintain the project's Section 508 compliance strategy, standards, procedures, and quality-control processes.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
This position is ideal for an experienced digital accessibility professional who combines strong technical Section 508 expertise with the communication and collaboration skills necessary to embed accessibility into a complex enterprise training-development program. The strongest candidate will not approach accessibility as a final inspection performed immediately before delivery; instead, they will actively partner with curriculum designers, technical writers, multimedia developers, and SMEs throughout the development lifecycle to ensure accessibility is incorporated into the product from the beginning. The ideal candidate will be comfortable testing a wide variety of products-from Word documents and PDFs to videos, screen recordings, e-learning modules, and interactive learning objects-and will be capable of clearly explaining accessibility defects and helping developers remediate them efficiently. Experience working directly with VA accessibility stakeholders will be particularly valuable. Ultimately, the successful candidate will help ensure that the training curriculum is not only technically accurate and instructionally effective, but also accessible, compliant, TMS-ready, and usable by the full VA workforce. Target Salary Range: $51,000 - $80,000 Disclaimer: The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation. Individual salaries are determined by various factors including, but not limited to location, internal equity, business considerations, client contract requirements, and candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, skills, and security clearances. #LI-SH1 Job Locations US-Remote LMI is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
