OUR OPENING

We're looking for a Project Accountant to join our Accounting team and manage the WIP reporting process across all divisions of the company. In this role, you'll partner closely with project managers to analyze costs, monitor variances, and help ensure our financial reporting is accurate and reliable. You'll also perform a variety of project-related administrative functions that support effective project management across the business.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO AS A PROJECT ACCOUNTANT?

  • Compile the WIP report and reconcile it to the general ledger
  • Research discrepancies, issues, and large variances
  • Ensure the accuracy of job costing
  • Maintain accurate phase codes
  • Verify payroll is allocated to the correct place at the correct rate
  • Perform allocations to jobs
  • Provide support as needed for the annual audit process
  • Pull supporting documentation for owner project audits
  • Set up new jobs in the ERP system
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained
  • Close out jobs as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Associate's degree or two-year equivalent in business administration, accounting, or a related field, and a minimum of five (5) years of accounting and finance-related experience required
  • Accounting experience in the construction industry strongly preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES NEEDED

  • Data entry and general mathematical skills
  • Proficient in applicable computer programs, including Microsoft Office, internet, and database programs

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • This position is based in our Sioux Falls, SD office and requires regular, full-time onsite attendance during normal business hours.
  • A majority of work takes place in an indoor office setting equipped with a computer, desk, phone, and other typical office equipment.
  • Must be able to inspect details at close range, interact, communicate, and exchange accurate information consistently.
  • Must be able to retain a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Travel to other locations is occasionally required for meetings and trainings.
