TITLE: Senior Technical Engineer II (Project Engineer)
POSITION OBJECTIVE: The purpose and scope of the following description is to establish a minimum standard of conduct, to outline basic responsibilities and determine needed activities and qualifications of the Project Engineer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and 3D CAD models.
- Working knowledge of injection molding and/or plastics manufacturing processes preferred.
- Understanding of mold construction, tooling design, secondary operations, and manufacturing equipment.
- Working knowledge of CAD software.
- Familiarity with project-management tools and methodologies.
- Understanding of dimensional inspection, CMM reports, and quality documentation.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, and engineering change processes, where applicable.
- Strong technical problem-solving and root-cause-analysis skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field required; bachelor's degree preferred. Significant relevant manufacturing, tooling, or project engineering experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
- Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage assigned projects from initial design review through tooling, sampling, production launch, and project closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, action-item lists, and tooling timelines.
- Coordinate activities between Engineering, Quality Assurance, Sales, Purchasing, Maintenance, and Production related to assigned projects, tooling builds and modifications, sampling trials, new product launches, and process improvements.
- Serve as the primary engineering liaison with assigned customers, tool shops, equipment suppliers, and other outside vendors for assigned projects.
- Review customer drawings, CAD models, specifications, and engineering changes for manufacturability.
- Coordinate tooling design reviews and ensure tooling meets 20/20 CMP manufacturing and equipment standards prior to approval.
- Coordinate launch activities, mold trials, sampling activities, engineering changes, and follow-up actions required for production readiness.
- Support troubleshooting of tooling, processing, equipment, and part-quality issues.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation such as part drawings and models, including tooling specifications, project trackers, sample documentation, equipment specifications, and engineering change records.
- Support RFQ activities by reviewing part geometry, tooling requirements, equipment needs, estimated cycle times, secondary operations, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction, productivity, quality, and process-improvement opportunities.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable customer requirements, quality standards, and 20/20 CMP safety procedures.
- Coordinate the design, procurement, installation, and validation of jigs, fixtures, secondary equipment, and automation.
- Facilitate project launch and post-launch reviews to identify lessons learned and corrective actions.
- Provide technical support to production and Quality Assurance after launch as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
