| Essential Job Duties |
Do you have a passion for landscape construction and enjoy turning plans into well-executed projects? NC State University is seeking a
Landscape Construction Project Manager to help shape and improve the campus landscape through thoughtful planning, strong project management, and a commitment to quality.
In this role, you will manage landscape construction projects from planning and design through construction and final closeout. You'll collaborate with University project managers, designers, consultants, contractors, and Facilities leadership to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with university standards. Your expertise in landscape construction, horticulture, hardscaping, irrigation, and stormwater systems will help ensure projects are built to last and successfully transition into ongoing campus maintenance. Key responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage landscape construction projects from planning and design through construction and final closeout, monitoring scope, schedules, budgets, milestones, and overall project progress.
- Use AiM, shared documentation, and team collaboration tools to track project information and maintain accurate project records.
- Identify and resolve project challenges and operational roadblocks while adapting project scope to meet university priorities.
- Develop, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to promote consistent and efficient project delivery.
- Manage project documentation, including contracts, competitive bids, product warranties, project records, and final closeout materials.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related communication and provide timely, clear updates to stakeholders and leadership.
- Collaborate with University Project and Design Managers, designers, consultants, contractors, and internal Facilities teams throughout planning, design, and construction.
- Provide concise project status, milestone, and issue updates during weekly leadership meetings.
- Build strong working relationships with Grounds Leadership, Landscape Construction Services, Waste Reduction and Recycling, Grounds Planning, and other campus partners.
- Participate in design reviews and evaluate project plans to ensure alignment with university standards and industry best practices.
- Apply knowledge of landscape construction, plant and tree identification, hardscape construction, commercial irrigation systems, and stormwater control measures (SCMs).
- Conduct project site inspections to verify construction meets approved designs, specifications, quality standards, and campus expectations.
- Identify construction issues and coordinate solutions with project partners to maintain quality and project objectives.
- Lead project closeout activities, including final inspections and walk-throughs, verification and filing of as-built drawings, and transition of completed projects to the Grounds Maintenance team.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in the assigned discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
|
| Other Required Qualifications |
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and the general public and understand verbal and written instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters.
- Project management experience.
- Must have knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- Must be physically able to inspect areas that require climbing on ladders and bending to reach low areas.

- Understands aspects of Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft projects, RS Means, AiM, and AutoCad software.
- Strong organizational abilities with an aptitude for multitasking.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and proactive judgement.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential project issues.
- Reading and understanding Blueprints and Plan Documents
