ReNuke Services is seeking a Sr. Project Controls Cost and Scheduling Specialist for our client"s site in Charlotte, NC!
Role Purpose:
Senior Project Controls Specialists (SrPCS) provide the skills, structure, and discipline needed to help project teams deliver work safely, efficiently, and predictably. Through accurate cost, schedule, scope, risk, and performance reporting, we enable informed decision-making, strengthen accountability, and support successful project outcomes from planning through execution.
This role supports Piedmont Natural Gas Business Unit - Major Projects - within Duke Energy.
Core Focus Areas:
*Apply senior-level project controls expertise in core competency areas, mostly scheduling, cost forecasting, variance analysis, change control management, and governance/procedural compliance
*Partner with cross-functional teams across project execution, project controls, and ensure accurate, consistent and on time reporting.
*Serve as a technical subject matter expert for reporting tools, data aggregation, analysis, and performance metrics.
*Lead the development, assembly, validation, distribution, and archiving of monthly and project performance reports.
Technical and Collaboration Expectations:
The SrPCS relies heavily on team collaboration and tools to support standard project controls reporting and analysis. The position requires strong analytical judgment, questioning attitude, and the ability to interpret project information into project schedules and cost forecasts. The SrPCS collaborates closely with Project Managers to coach, advise, engage discussion and decisions with the goal of reliable and predictable project information and reporting while enforcing business unit governance/procedures.
SrPCS will need high level of technical proficiency with Excel - and preferably Ecosys, Power Plan, Maximo, SWORD Risk Registers, and other internal Project Controls tools.
Responsibilities & Duties:
* Lead Development / Generation of Project Controls Reporting
Provide leadership in development and generation of daily, weekly, monthly and project controls reports. Responsible for gathering, verifying, validating and analyzing data in support of project controls reporting. Responsible for distributing and archiving project controls reports as appropriate. In addition, provide quality presentation reports and be available to present project and leadership teams.
* Oversee Project-level Change Control
Track and report changes to the project scope, schedule and cost baseline in a manner compliant with internal governance standards and terms and conditions of relevant contracts (as appropriate). Lead team through audit reviews as needed.
* Oversee Project Controls Benchmarking and Self-Assessment Initiatives
Assist in scheduling and carrying out benchmarking and self-assessment initiatives relevant to project controls and the types of projects typically managed by the project controls group. Identify and communicate improvement opportunities, adoption of best practices and counter measures to address gaps in performance.
* Expertise in Project Controls Methodologies
Senior-level knowledge of project schedules, cost estimates, track and trend cash flow reports, change control documentation (scope, cost or schedule) and/or any reports associated with program and project controls. Tracks and reports project status, variance analysis, earned value and critical path analyses at a level appropriate for the program or project. Ability to perform root cause analysis, explain why change occurred, and articulate to leadership effectively.
* Expertise in Program & Project Estimates
Collaborate with Estimators and/or Project Controls Analysts to establish effective cost controls management baselines. Track and report relevant controls baselines according to PMCoE (Project Management Center of Excellence) Standards
* Effective Team Leadership
The SrPCS is responsible for maintaining effective relationships with key team members and stakeholders, supports the resolution of quality issues and complete assignments (proposals, program & project tasks, reports, etc.)
*Some travel required for occasional field trips to project sites and annual business unit workshops (?10%)
