DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the safe operation of the boiler plant through practical assistance and active learning. As a Utility Plant Helper, you will perform the following duties:

  • Equipment Support: Assist in operating, regulating, and maintaining steam-generating equipment including pumps, fans, compressors, and control systems
  • Plant Cleaning: Scrub floors, walls, handrails, and other plant areas to maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Condition Monitoring: Record plant operating conditions every two hours and maintain production and usage records
  • Water Testing: Test water softness and boiler chemistry, adding salt or chemicals as needed to maintain proper levels
  • Maintenance Tasks: Perform preventative maintenance and help repair or install equipment as assigned
  • Emergency Operations: Operate the emergency generator plant and manually transfer electrical load when necessary

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with no unpaid meal break. You will work rotating on and off duty days, including weekends and holidays.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
