Lead Polysomnography Technologist - RWJBarnabas Health

A typical day for a Lead Polysomnography Technologist may include:
  • Performing sleep studies for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Setting up and correctly placing leads, electrodes, and sensors using the 10-20 system.
  • Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting polysomnography and monitoring equipment.
  • Performing CPAP/BIPAP titrations according to AASM guidelines.
  • Scoring sleep studies and maintaining strong inter-scorer reliability.
  • Completing required documentation, charges, and study reports.
  • Coordinating the dictation, transcription, final reporting, archiving, and filing processes.
  • Supporting inventory control and ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available.
  • Providing lead-level support and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Sleep Lab.
  • Supporting staff education, training, and adherence to clinical standards.
  • Maintaining annual CME requirements and staying current with AASM guidelines.
This role might be for you if:
  • You hold a New Jersey Polysomnographic Technologist license.
  • You have experience performing polysomnographic studies in a clinical sleep laboratory.
  • You have strong knowledge of sleep study procedures, scoring, and equipment.
  • You are comfortable troubleshooting polysomnography, pulse oximetry, transcutaneous CO, end-tidal CO, CPAP, and BIPAP equipment.
  • You have strong knowledge of AASM guidelines.
  • You have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • You enjoy taking a lead role in supporting patients, colleagues, and daily laboratory operations.
To be considered for this Lead Polysomnography Technologist opportunity:
  • New Jersey Polysomnographic Technologist license required.
  • BLS or CPR certification required.
  • RPSGT certification preferred.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Registered EEG Technician with sleep experience preferred.
  • Previous lead or senior-level sleep laboratory experience preferred.
  • Sleep study scoring knowledge and experience strongly desirable.
