Teaching Assistant Professor of Business Law - General Business - Chambers College

The Department of General Business in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University (located in Morgantown, WV) invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor - Business Law. This position is expected to begin in January 2027. The position will involve teaching under the Department of General Business, with a research and service affiliation to the Knee Regulatory Research Center (KRRC), focusing on topics related to business law, regulation, and healthcare policy.

The primary teaching responsibility for this position is business law, with courses drawn from the candidate's area of expertise. Candidates should demonstrate a teaching philosophy that emphasizes experiential learning and student engagement. The successful candidate will potentially be to teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels as the needs of the department dictate. Teaching is intended to be primarily focused within the Online MBA Program of the College. Candidates are also expected to collaborate with colleagues to support and strengthen the college's innovative, student-centered culture during this period of rapid program growth.

While the position is primarily teaching-focused, the candidate will be expected to bring practical experience with how regulations and policy work together, and knowledge of how policy is changed through legislation at the state and federal level, into the classroom.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with scholars within the Knee Regulatory Research Center, under the direction of Dr. Alicia Plemmons, Director of KRRC. Candidates with a J.D. or Ph.D. in law, business, public policy, or a related field with experience in regulatory or legislative analysis are encouraged to apply. Salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position and start date are subject to budget approval.

Qualified candidates must hold, at the time of appointment, a J.D. or Ph.D. in law, business, public policy, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in regulatory and legislative processes at the state and/or federal level. Candidates in the advanced stages of a J.D. or Ph.D. will also be considered but must have completed their degree before the start date of this position.
