Job Description Exciting opportunity to join the Endeavor Health Cardiovascular Institute Cardiovascular Surgery Team. The Physician Associate provides comprehensive perioperative care to cardiac surgical patients across the inpatient, outpatient, and operating room settings. Responsibilities include performing histories and physical examinations; ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies; developing and implementing treatment plans; prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies; and providing patient and family education. Serves as first or second assistant in cardiac surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve surgery, ECMO cannulation, LVAD implantation, and other cardiovascular procedures. Performs clinical and procedural responsibilities consistent with training, competency, credentialing, and privileges. Collaborates with cardiac surgeons and the multidisciplinary cardiovascular team in the management of patients throughout the surgical continuum. Participates in quality improvement, clinical practice development, and service-line initiatives. Upon successful completion of orientation and demonstration of required competencies, independently participates in operative first-assist and call coverage as core responsibilities of the position. New graduate PAs are supported through a structured orientation and competency-development process with progressive advancement toward autonomous clinical practice, operative first-assist responsibilities, and call coverage.
