The best pipe designers have stood in the rack, held the wrench, and know what actually goes together in the field. At RK Industries, you'll take that field knowledge and put it where it matters most: into the model, before a single spool hits the shop floor.

As our Pipe Systems Design Lead, you'll be the bridge between design and installation on high-profile data center projects, reviewing multi-trade pipe racks and chilled-water closed-loop systems for constructability, catching what can't be built or manipulated in the field, and making sure every model, spool drawing, and package is built right the first time.

And you won't build alone. RK's integrated fabrication, manufacturing, construction, and VDC teams give you the resources, technology, and in-house shop capabilities many contractors simply can't match.

What You'll Lead

• Review contract drawings and models for design intent and constructability prior to VDC/BIM kickoff, flagging designs that can't realistically be installed in the field.

• Lead constructability for multi-trade pipe racks and chilled-water closed-loop systems supporting data center construction.

• Perform quality control reviews of VDC/BIM models and fabrication/spool drawings before they reach the shop.

• Optimize projects for prefabrication, packaging, and delivery before spooling.

• Partner with Preconstruction, Project Managers, VDC/BIM, Field, and Manufacturing teams on material and fabrication best practices.

• Walk project sites with Field Managers to capture installation lessons and field material preferences, and bring them back into the model.

• Assemble pricing comparisons for material selection and optimization opportunities.

• Mentor and train designers and detailers on trade-specific means and methods.

• Provide direction to the design team to meet schedule, quality, budget, and safety standards.

• Champion RK's safety culture in the office, the shop, and the field.

What You Bring

• Hands-on field pipefitting experience (journeyman, foreman, or equivalent) with mechanical, hydronic, or process piping. Required.

• Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks; Tekla or Revit Fabrication a plus.

• Design, detailing, spooling, or VDC coordination experience. Experienced designers preferred; we'll train the right field talent.

• Data center, mission-critical, or chilled-water system experience strongly preferred.

• Ability to read construction and fabrication drawings, specifications, and submittals with a high degree of accuracy.

• Confidence making independent decisions on methods and constructability, and clearly communicating the "why."

• Strong teamwork, planning, and relationship-building skills across field, shop, and office teams.

• Ability to work full-time onsite in Henderson, CO. Relocation assistance available.
