Ready to power up your future?

Are you pursuing a degree in Economics, Engineering, Data Science, Public Policy, or a related field and searching for a career-igniting spring co-op in 2027? Do you want to see your ideas make a real impact-helping MISO keep the lights on for 45 million people by driving innovations that boost system reliability, resilience, and performance, and tackling some of the most complex technical challenges in the energy industry?

If that sparks your interest, keep reading...

What you'll do as a MISO Co-op:

  • Work on meaningful, highimpact analytical projects that help MISO understand emerging trends, largeload behaviors (e.g., AI/data center growth), market dynamics, and longterm reliability implications. Your insights help inform decisionmaking across the organization.
  • Contribute to real analyses-such as reviewing load forecasts, evaluating emerging risks, producing dashboards, summarizing trends, or supporting crossteam strategic initiatives.
  • Work side-by-side with your manager and mentor while connecting with a cross-departmental "buddy" to grow your network.
  • Learn from industry experts during interactive lunch & learn sessions.
  • Get involved beyond the desk: join in community service projects, social events, and networking opportunities with professionals who are passionate about what they do.
  • Wrap up your spring with a spotlight presentation of your project findings and recommendations to department leaders and company executives.

What we offer:

  • Competitive pay plus housing assistance for qualified students.
  • A collaborative, mission-driven culture where your contributions matter.
  • A co-op experience that blends technical challenges, professional development, and fun.
  • An average of 40 hours per week on site in one of our offices (Carmel, IN or Eagan, MN).
  • Potential to extend co-op to part-time remote work during the school year.

We are looking for students who...

  • Are pursuing Economics, Engineering, Data Science, Public Policy, or a related degree.
  • Have strong critical thinking, research ability, and an interest in strategy, policy, market dynamics, or risk assessment.
  • Are proficient in Visual Studio Code, GitHub, Power BI, PowerPoint, and commonly used analytical tools.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, eagerness to learn, and strong respect and collaboration-key values for this team.
  • Are excited to work with realworld datasets, dashboards, trend reports, longterm planning materials, and strategic briefs.
  • Can communicate clearly and are comfortable synthesizing insights for leadership audiences.

To be eligible for the program, you must be available to start Wednesday, January 13th, 2027, and continue through Friday, April 30th, 2027. No VISA sponsorship opportunities, including OPT/CPT.
