The office of the General Counsel seeks a full-time Legal Conflicts Counsel. The position will ultimately be located in any office location of Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, with a preference for Arizona, California, Colorado, or Nevada. The position is eligible to be remote.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Review daily conflicts of interest reports;
  • Identify and analyze ethical and business conflicts of interest issues relating to new client and business matters, including identifying and pursuing possible resolutions, such as drafting conflicts of interest waivers;
  • Work with firm lawyers to discuss conflicts of interest issues and resolution options;
  • Review engagement letters, client outside counsel guidelines, and other client-facing documentation;
  • Undertake other ethics and professional responsibility related duties and projects assigned; and
  • Provide firm lawyers and other firm personnel with professional conduct guidance, and related firm processes and procedures.

Job Requirements:

  • Command of the Model Rules of Professional Conduct and relevant state rules.
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and licensed (active and in good standing) in the jurisdiction in which the law firm has an office.
  • At least 2 years of broad experience working in a law firm or in-house corporate environment; prior conflicts experience a plus.
  • Understanding of how legal issues impact law firms.
  • High degree of professional ethics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of judgment, applying knowledge and critical thinking to provide practical and effective business solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential and sensitive data.
  • Responsive with a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Creative and balanced problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to work efficiently and with precision.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with people at all levels in an organization.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Adept at problem-solving.
  • Will use the firm's processes and technology to be as efficient as possible.
  • Desire to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Demonstrate dependability and initiative.
  • Ability to align risk mitigation strategies with business objectives.
  • Possess strong customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of Intapp new business intake/conflicts software highly desired.

Compensation:

  • $85,000 - $160,000 a year is the estimated salary range for this role.
  • Actual compensation can vary and may be above or below the range based on qualifications and experience. Additional incentives may be applicable. The salary range for other firm locations will align with market rates.
  • Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP offers competitive compensation, and, in addition, we offer a range of benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), and Paid Time Off "PTO"/Vacation. A discretionary bonus may be available based on performance.
