Job Description




As a Security Officer Patrol Deterrence in Reading, PA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer at a government service location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment for visitors and staff. You will communicate professionally, respond to security-related concerns, and contribute to a caring culture built on teamwork, integrity, reliability, agility, and innovation at Allied Universal.

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $16.75 / Hour

    Security Experience (C115):
    Candidates must have a minimum of one year of relevant security experience. This experience should demonstrate the ability to handle security-related tasks and responsibilities effectively.

  • Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet (B204):
    Candidates must be proficient in using computers or tablets. This includes familiarity with basic software applications, email communication, and the ability to navigate digital platforms efficiently.

  • Customer Service Experience (B219):
    Candidates must possess prior customer service experience. This experience should reflect the ability to interact positively with customers, resolve issues, and provide exceptional service.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and members of the public at a government service center by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and/or emergency services as directed by site procedures.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior and exterior areas, including public access points, parking areas, and the facility perimeter, to help deter unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor access to the location, observe visitor and employee activity, and report suspicious behavior, hazards, or maintenance concerns according to site-specific procedures.
  • Document patrols, incidents, and daily activities accurately; communicate relevant information to Allied Universal leadership and site representatives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
