Overview

NaphCare is hiring LPNs/LVNs to join our healthcare team at Kilby Correctional Facility in Mt. Meigs, Alabama!

Ready for a nursing opportunity that goes beyond the traditional bedside setting? Correctional healthcare gives LPNs the opportunity to use a broad range of clinical skills, work alongside a multidisciplinary healthcare team, and provide meaningful care to an underserved patient population.

Pay Range: $32.40-$34.20/hour + Shift Differential for Evening & Night Shifts
Various Shifts Available: Days | Evenings | Nights | Weekends
Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities

As a Correctional LPN/LVN, you'll provide hands-on nursing care in a fast-paced clinical environment where no two days are exactly the same. You'll perform patient assessments, administer medications, manage chronic and acute conditions, respond to urgent medical needs, and collaborate with providers and other healthcare professionals to support continuity of care.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced nurses looking for a change of pace as well as new graduates ready to strengthen their clinical judgment, build confidence, and gain experience across a diverse range of patient needs.

Responsibilities

As an LPN, you will play a critical role in our continued mission to provide quality healthcare that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

    Performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
  • Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
  • Providing wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
  • Administering medication, including injections of medications and monitoring reaction to meds
  • Maintaining medical records, including entering information into our electronic health record, TechCare
  • Observing patient health and mental health status
  • Providing emergency first aid
  • Providing patient education and discharge/release planning


Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements

  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
