Title: Phlebotomist II Duration:3 months 03rd shift : 4am - 12:30pm Location: 9330 East 41st Street, Tulsa, OK This is the homebase, candidate will be using company car to go to nursing homes and hospitals in the area and drawing on patients then going back to the home location for the specimen processing. Vaccines required: TB Flu is requirec INDIVIDUAL INTERVIEW - ONSITE Job Summary: Perform blood collection and specimen processing while supporting daily laboratory operations. Assist with assigned duties, troubleshooting, staff training, and workflow improvement recommendations. Ensure specimens are collected, labeled, processed, stored, and transported accurately according to established procedures. Position Responsibilities: Perform venipunctures using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Collect blood and other specimens, including urine and fecal specimens, as required. Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients. Review and understand physicians' orders and laboratory test requirements. Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes to ensure accuracy. Verify test requisitions and computer-generated labels against physician orders/scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Accurately label specimen tubes and containers immediately after collection. Centrifuge, separate, split, and freeze specimens according to specific test requirements. Store specimens at the appropriate temperature and in the correct collection containers or tubes. Follow established protocols to maintain specimen integrity during processing, storage, and transportation. Package specimens appropriately for laboratory transport. Record equipment maintenance and decontamination information as required. Update and maintain accurate patient information in laboratory systems. Troubleshoot collection and processing issues and recommend workflow improvements when appropriate. Answer telephone calls and assist with laboratory-related inquiries. Read laboratory results to authorized individuals as appropriate. Follow OSHA, DEP, and other applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Attend required annual departmental training and maintain knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety protocols. Assist with training staff on phlebotomy, specimen handling, and laboratory procedures as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Valid Phlebotomy Certification for the state of employment, where required. Minimum of 6 months of hands-on venipuncture experience in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong knowledge of specimen collection, labeling, processing, storage, and transportation procedures. Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Strong communication, organizational, and patient-service skills.
