This role is part of Blue Origin's Avionics & Control Products (ACP) organization within the Engine Business Unit and supports the design, development, manufacturing, integration, and testing of avionics and control hardware-including electrical test equipment and associated harness/power/grounding infrastructure.

You will apply strong technical skills and a quality-first mindset to support safe, repeatable spaceflight by contributing hands-on assembly, rework execution and increasingly owning technical deliverables such as troubleshooting, checkout, and hardware documentation/configuration.

Special Mentions

• Scheduled for 40 hours, with additional weekdays/overtime as necessary
• Travel may be required to rocket engine test sites (based on program need), but not expected to occur frequently.

Responsibilities

• Assemble prototype and flight-grade avionics assemblies, including electrical/mechanical component systems and related hardware infrastructure
• Solder and rework SMT/PCB assemblies down to 0201-sized components (repairs, rework, and verification of work)
• Develop and build lab circuits to support development, debug, and verification of electronic designs
• Build wire harness/cable assemblies for lab use and test fixtures
• Perform PCB level testing, checkout, troubleshooting, and validation of electronic assemblies in an open-box development environment
• Create and release drawings and/or technical documentation for control systems, including:
• Maintain configuration control of individual circuit card designs
• Participate in problem investigation and resolution, including identifying root cause and implementing corrective actions
• Process non-conformances and complete associated documentation
• Support integration of flight avionics units and test equipment, including interfacing avionics to operator consoles and test assets to verify requirements/performance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic electronics theory (e.g., voltage, current, resistance) and practical application during assembly/test
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings, and follow written assembly procedures
• 5+ years of industry experience with electrical/electro-mechanical assemblies or equivalent hands-on avionics/test experience (including aerospace test environments)
• Experience with ESD prevention and controls
• Demonstrated proficiency assembling and handling small electrical/mechanical parts
• Proficient in using standard electronic lab test and troubleshooting equipment (e.g., power supplies, handheld multimeters, and common debug tools)
• Ability to assemble/test/rework cable and harness assemblies
• Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a tightly integrated team environment
• Ability to lift 25 lbs
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with common tools (e.g., Microsoft Office)

Preferred Qualifications

• Current or expired certifications in:
  • IPC-A-610 (PCBA inspection)
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 (harness assembly)
  • J-STD-001 (soldering)
  • IPC-7711/7721 (PCBA rework)
• Experience building avionics labs and/or electrical ground support equipment and/or test assets for electrical equipment testing
• Working knowledge of digital/analog circuits, computers, microprocessors, and/or networks
• Experience with modeling/drafting and engineering drawings using tools such as Creo or Zuken (or equivalent)
• Experience with potting
• Experience working in R&D environments (space, aviation, automotive, medical, or similar high-precision domains)
• Familiarity with basic PCB layout tools

• Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
