The Role:

In this position, you willplaya key role in the R&D Analytical Lab by providing materials characterization, testing, and technicalexpertiseto support product development, quality improvement, and customer needs. This position collaborates closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Commercial teams to analyze materials, investigate product performance, and drive data-based solutions.

What You'll Do:

• Perform routine and specialized materials testing for short and medium-term projects and analytical requests.
• Develop test methods and processes as necessary.
• Assist Research Scientists with ongoing product development activities.
• Use product and testing expertise to collaborate with internal and external customers to determine root causes in product development and quality problems.
• Continuous training on the various analytical techniques and methods.

What We Seek:

• Bachelor's degree in materials science or related field.
• Familiarity with lab environment and understanding of laboratory procedures and methods.
• An inquiring mind, a team player and strong communication skills.
• Carbon, graphite and/or ceramic materials experience / understanding is desired.
• Computer skills related to data analysis, word processing and image processing.
• SEM, EDS and optical microscope experience a plus. Thermal analysis, XRD, Raman, and physical properties testing experience also desirable.
• Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel, either individually or as a team member.
• Perform duties in a safe manner, observes approved safety procedures, and communicates potential hazards immediately to supervisor or EHS.
• Complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned in support of the larger organization and goals.
• Candidate must have the capacity to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control law.

• Tests and analyzes R&D samples, manufactured materials, and customer samples when needed and in timely manner.
• Confers with technicians, R&D scientists, and manufacturing personnel regarding results and research, prepares technical reports and presentations.
• Good communication and coordination abilities and presentation skills.
• Ability to conduct projects independently and navigate ambiguity.
• Strong independent operation skills and ability to complete lab work safely.
• Ability to learn and become proficient with a variety of analytical techniques.
