Position Summary: The Powder Coat Supervisor leads a team of powder coating production workers to meet the daily requirements of our demanding production schedule. This is a working supervisor role - beyond overseeing the team the Supervisor is hands-on in the powder coat process itself, ensuring quality, safety, and throughput on the line. We're looking for a strong core fit who can bring technical expertise and leadership to make a positive difference on the team. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Coordination Work closely with the Production Manager to meet production goals Coordinate daily activities of the powder coat department, delegating job responsibilities to appropriate shift personnel Plan and organize work for assigned workers to meet the production schedule Maintain workflow between workers and departments, adjusting for schedule changes as needed Motivate team members to complete assignments in a timely, accurate manner, ensuring effective use of personnel Train new powder coat employees to bring them up to speed in a timely manner Communicate with all levels of the organization to keep employees informed of schedules, changes, and job-related information Powder Coat Process & Quality Set up and operate machines to coat steel and aluminum parts with powder paint Determine coating flow, viscosity, and quality through visual inspection and use of viscometers Select appropriate coatings and prepare them by mixing substances according to formulas, using automated paint mixing equipment Operate auxiliary machines and equipment used in the coating process Attach hoses and nozzles to machines using wrenches and pliers, adjusting for proper spray dispersion Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders for workers Monitor all production for quality, making adjustments as necessary Inspect products and equipment for defects or malfunctions Troubleshoot and resolve production problems as they occur Effectively use raw materials to reduce waste Check all production equipment to ensure it is in good working order Record operational data on specified forms Safety Work in a safe manner and promote safety among all employees: Key Stakeholders, Production Manager, Powder Coat Team Members, Quality Assurance, and other Production Department Supervisors What We're Looking For: 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience, with hands-on powder coating experience strongly preferred Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in an effective, safe manner Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred, but not required Welding experience helpful, but not required Must be detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills Project management skills a plus Minimum high school diploma or GED Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to lift 50 lbs Ability to bend, twist, stoop, and climb ladders Ability to work 40 to 50 hours per week
