WGL - Supervisor Meter Services

As a Supervisor, Meter Services, you will lead the daily activities of a field-based team responsible for meter reading operations, ERT maintenance and replacement, meter audits, inside leak surveys, and related customer service activities. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will spend the majority of your time supporting employees in the field, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

This position oversees union employees and contractor personnel responsible for meter reading, AMR data collection, ERT replacement activities, customer access coordination, and inside leak survey operations throughout the service territory. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to respond to emergencies and support 24/7 operations as needed.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, approximately 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Requires the ability to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency response.

You Will:

• Oversee daily meter services operations, including meter reading, meter and ERT maintenance, meter audits, inside leak surveys, and customer appointment activities.
• Utilize Itron, RouteSmart, SAP, Click, and similar systems to monitor performance, manage work activities, and maintain meter reading statistics.
• Supervise meter reading, AMR, ERT replacement, routing, and inside leak survey operations to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Assign and oversee meter reading orders, customer appointments, investigations, leak grading activities, and account routing activities.
• Investigate and resolve account, billing, and customer service issues.
• Research customer account and device information within SAP and related systems.
• Develop and improve departmental processes, work practices, and employee training programs.
• Prepare reports and documentation for audits and compliance activities.
• Monitor contractor performance and collaborate with contractors and business partners to support operational goals.
• Provide field leadership by coaching employees, promoting safe work practices, and supporting day-to-day operations.

Key Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED and at least five (5) years of natural gas, utility operations, customer service, or process systems experience.
• Two (2) or more years of supervisory, leadership, or team lead experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead people, manage projects, and prioritize competing work activities.
• Strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with employees, customers, contractors, and business partners.
• Proficiency using computer systems and software for data analysis, reporting, and operational support.
• Ability to analyze business challenges, evaluate solutions, and make sound decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Great to See:

• Meter Services experience, including meter reading, ERT maintenance, AMR technologies, meter audits, or related operations.
• Natural gas or utility industry experience.
• Experience supervising field employees and contractors.
• Experience working in a union environment.
• Familiarity with SAP, Itron, RouteSmart, Click, or similar operational systems.
• A proactive, team-oriented leadership style and willingness to learn all aspects of Meter Services operations.

We offer a competitive salary range of $103,500 - $150,750 annually, based on experience, education, and qualifications.
