Job Overview Title: Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician Reports to: Sr. Maintenance & Safety Manager Location: Kent, WA - onsite Type: Non-Exempt, Full-Time Schedule Type: Monday - Friday, Day Shift. Ability to work overtime as needed - including weekend support. Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. Normal Shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.) Position Summary The Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician is a hands-on technical role responsible for safely installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment, facility systems, and related infrastructure. This position supports business and production goals through proactive, predictive, and preventative maintenance practices while responding effectively to equipment issues and facility needs. This role is designed for an experienced maintenance professional who wants to remain actively engaged in technical, hands-on work while developing the skills and judgment needed to grow into a department Lead position. The successful candidate may also be considered for long-term development as a potential successor to the Maintenance Manager within approximately five years. The ideal candidate will be: Technically curious, with a strong interest in understanding equipment, systems, processes, and the business impact of maintenance work. Action-oriented and able to respond with urgency when equipment, facility, or production needs arise. Coachable and committed to learning, growing, and developing through feedback, training, and hands-on experience. Interested in future growth opportunities while remaining comfortable performing technical maintenance work on the floor. Motivated to build leadership skills, take on increasing responsibility, and contribute to long-term maintenance leadership succession planning. Able to build trust and communicate effectively with leaders, team members, and employees across all levels of the organization. Collaborative, transparent, and flexible, with a commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement. Clear and concise in written and verbal communication, including documentation of maintenance work and follow-up needs. Able to adapt to changing priorities while balancing immediate repairs, preventative maintenance, and longer-term improvement work. Responsibilities: Perform hands-on maintenance across multiple disciplines, including electrical, PLC, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic, hydraulic, and related facility and production systems. Troubleshoot and complete emergency or unscheduled repairs to restore production equipment and minimize downtime. Perform basic machining, fabrication, design, build, and repair work to support equipment, fixtures, racks, and facility needs. Apply mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and diagnostic skills to identify root causes and complete effective repairs. Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, work orders, and technical documentation to perform required maintenance and service. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on machines, equipment, facility systems, and plant infrastructure. Complete plumbing, carpentry, and general facility maintenance tasks as needed. Safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance-related technology to complete assigned work. Identify faulty operations, defective materials, unsafe conditions, and unusual equipment performance, and report concerns to appropriate supervision. Build and repair racks using appropriate metals and fabrication methods for processing parts through chemical tanks. Follow safety regulations, company procedures, and housekeeping standards to maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas. Actively participate in continuous improvement activities that improve safety, reliability, productivity, delivery, and service. Perform other related duties as assigned to support maintenance, production, and facility operations. What we're looking for - qualifications: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose problems, research options, test solutions, make adjustments, and resolve issues effectively. Ability to document repairs, corrective actions, and preventative maintenance activity in CMMS software to support communication, equipment history, and future maintenance planning. Ability to develop practical solutions for complex technical problems using sound judgment, ingenuity, and creativity. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to learn and apply tools, techniques, and technology used to solve both tactical maintenance issues and longer-term operational challenges. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English, including the ability to understand work orders, equipment documentation, purchase orders, and related paperwork. Regular and dependable attendance is required. Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, as required by company policy. Must be authorized to work in the United States. An export license may be required to work in certain areas of the facility. Nice to haves - preferred qualifications & education Strong background in electrical systems troubleshooting, including controls, and industrial power distribution and design will be highly valued. Experience in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial boilers, burners, steam systems, and associated equipment will be highly valued. (Certifications such as ASOPE, NIULPE, Stationary Engineer, Boiler Operator or equivalent preferred). High school diploma or GED required; completion of a craft apprenticeship or equivalent combination of education, training, and production maintenance experience preferred. Seven or more years of hands-on industrial equipment maintenance experience required. Manufacturing maintenance experience preferred, including demonstrated technical skills in electrical, mechanical, PLC, HVAC, metal fabrication, and industrial systems. Essential Mental/Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to perform active maintenance work in a manufacturing environment, including frequent standing, walking, reaching, grasping, pushing, and pulling, as well as occasional lifting, carrying, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and working in confined spaces. Employees must be able to use vision, hearing, and touch to inspect equipment and identify issues; occasionally lift up to 119 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 31 lbs. overhead, carry up to 55 lbs., and push or pull up to 100 lbs.; and work around moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, metal finishing chemical fumes, temperature fluctuations, and noise requiring hearing protection. Required PPE may include safety glasses, goggles, aprons, rubber boots, gloves, and a company-provided respirator, which the employee must be able to wear. Salary Range for position: $30.00 - $45.00. The pay range and total compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment.
