Overview In this role, Veeco is looking for engineers with strong technical fundamentals, hands-on problem-solving skills, disciplined execution, clear communication, and the ability to work effectively with highly technical teams in a fast-paced technology development and prototyping environment. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will apply principles of physics, mathematics, materials science, and mechanical design to solve complex engineering challenges, develop custom tooling and fixturing, support manufacturing and assembly processes, and improve product performance throughout the product life cycle. Role Responsibilities: Identify and resolve complex mechanical issues with minimal supervision. Define, coordinate, execute, and document engineering tests and reports. Develop, design, or modify complex mechanical layouts, schematics, drawings, and specifications. Perform complex engineering analyses with limited supervision. Lead or execute technical projects, develop key suppliers, and create mechanical product specifications. Design, develop, and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixtures, and related processes to support part handling, assembly, disassembly, and operational standardization. Specify, review, and maintain engineering documentation. Develop concepts and mechanical solutions for complex product issues. Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and build alignment across stakeholders. Travel up to 20% as needed to customer sites and supplier facilities. Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2-4 years of experience Demonstrated experience with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet metal design, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, flow analysis and/or Design for Excellence principle Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of the Veeco product life cycle, including prototyping, packaging, material selection and manufacturing methods Understanding plasma basics and plasma-material interactions Ability to perform independent research and go through scientific literature Salary and Benefits The expected salary range for this position is $65,520.00 - $87,360.00, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
