THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Senior Data Center Technician Lead to join our VSEI Field Services team supporting client data center environments in the Phoenix, Arizona area. This is a hands-on technical lead opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex server issues while also helping guide and support other technicians.

In this highly visible role, you will work alongside a team of data center technicians while serving as a key connection between the technical team, project managers, and leadership. You will lead daily huddles, help resolve technical blockers, maintain visibility into ticket and project status, and provide clear updates to leadership. You will also remain hands-on, working directly with servers and managing your own tickets.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who is comfortable working with both hands-on technicians and leadership. You are organized, technically curious, collaborative, and able to maintain a big-picture view of site operations while also diving into technical issues when needed.

You thrive in a fast-paced data center environment, enjoy helping others work through technical challenges, and can quickly learn new systems and processes. You are comfortable taking ownership, communicating blockers and progress, and balancing your own workload while serving as a technical resource for the broader team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead daily team huddles to communicate priorities, ticket activity, operational changes, technical blockers, and other important site updates.
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on assistance to data center technicians troubleshooting server-related issues.
• Perform hands-on server troubleshooting, break/fix activities, and assigned ticket work within the data center environment.
• Maintain visibility into the site's active ticket queue, including status, blockers, and work progression.
• Serve as a liaison between technicians, project managers, and management to ensure information and operational updates are communicated effectively.
• Coordinate parts checkout and provide hands-on support to technicians working on server hardware.
• Provide daily roll call, huddle notes, and end-of-day ticket status updates.
• During the first 30 days, become familiar with team processes, systems, and the technical environment.
• Within the first 60 to 90 days, develop proficiency with administrative responsibilities, supported SKUs, and day-to-day technical support for the technician team.
• Long term, serve as a trusted higher-level technical resource who can assist technicians with troubleshooting and drive effective communication around site activities and ticket issues.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience working in data center environments and supporting server hardware.
• Strong server break/fix, troubleshooting, and problem-analysis skills.
• Experience with server hardware installation, configuration, and server-side management.
• Working knowledge of PowerShell and Linux command-line environments.
• Knowledge of networking equipment and its use when troubleshooting technical issues.
• Experience managing technical tickets, identifying blockers, and communicating status and progress.
• Experience providing technical guidance or support to other technicians is preferred.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• High school diploma or GED desired.
• College-level education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
• CompTIA A+ or an equivalent technology certification is preferred.

LOCATION: Phoenix, Arizona

This role supports client data center locations and follows a Sunday through Wednesday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule, working four 10-hour days per week.

The position involves 25% to 50% travel, primarily between data centers within the local area. Travel outside the local area may occasionally be requested but is not mandatory.
