LEGACY BAKEHOUSE General Laborer Production Operations POSITION OVERVIEW The General Laborer supports daily production operations in a food manufacturing environment. This is an entry-level position that requires no prior experience; full on-the-job training is provided. The General Laborer performs a variety of tasks across production, packaging, sanitation, and material handling to keep operations running safely and efficiently. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Production Support * Assist in the setup, operation, and cleanup of production lines and equipment. * Support baking, mixing, portioning, and packaging operations as directed. * Work in high-temperature areas associated with baking and food manufacturing operations; ability to tolerate sustained heat exposure is required. * Stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for the duration of an 8-12 hour shift. * Rotate between production tasks and departments as needed to meet operational demands. Quality and Attention to Detail * Inspect product for visible defects, foreign material, or deviations from specification and remove or report non-conforming product promptly. * Monitor weights, counts, and packaging integrity throughout the shift and report discrepancies to the Shift Supervisor. * Follow standard work instructions precisely and alert supervision when product or process does not meet established standards. * Complete required production logs and records accurately and legibly. Sanitation and Housekeeping * Perform pre-operational and post-operational sanitation of assigned equipment, lines, and work areas in accordance with the Master Sanitation Schedule. * Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift; dispose of waste, packaging materials, and scrap properly. * Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times, including proper handwashing, hair restraint, and restricted-item policies. Material Handling * Receive, stage, and transport raw materials, ingredients, and finished goods as directed. * Operate manual hand trucks, pallet jacks, and carts safely; report equipment damage or malfunction immediately. * Assist with loading and unloading finished product pallets and supply deliveries. FOOD AND PERSONNEL SAFETY DUTIES * Follow all food safety procedures including allergen controls, label verification, and FIFO (First In, First Out) practices. * Report any potential food safety risk - including contamination, unusual odors, or foreign material - to the Shift Supervisor immediately. * Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times in designated areas, including hearing protection, hair nets, and slip-resistant footwear. * Follow all lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures and never attempt to service equipment without proper authorization and training. * Report all injuries, near-misses, and unsafe conditions to supervision promptly. * Actively participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES * Communicate openly with co-workers and supervision to maintain smooth shift transitions. * Assist in training and orienting new team members as requested. * Perform other duties as assigned by supervision. REQUIRED TRAINING Food Safety * Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) * Allergen Awareness * Food Defense Personnel Safety * Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) * Heat Safety and Hydration Awareness * Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Use * Slip, Trip, and Fall Prevention * Emergency Action Plan / Evacuation Procedures Positional * Department-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) * Equipment operation and sanitation as applicable to assigned area REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS * No prior experience required; full training provided on the job. * Ability to work in a warm to high-temperature manufacturing environment for extended periods. * Ability to stand and remain on your feet for the duration of an 8-12 hour shift. * Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify product or process deviations. * Safety-conscious mindset with a demonstrated commitment to following safety rules and procedures. * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift. * Reliable attendance and punctuality; ability to work scheduled shifts including weekends as required. * Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow directions from supervision. * Must comply with all food safety, GMP, and company policies.
