Job Summary

Yarde Metals is seeking a Cut-to-Length Operator to join our operations team. This is an opportunity to work with state-of-the-art processing equipment while becoming part of a company that is commited to safety, quality, teamwork and the development of our associates. A Cut-to-Length Operator sets up, operates and tends the cut to length line to safely process coiled metal into sheets.

Job Responsibilities

SAFETY FIRST!
Set up, operate and monitor state-of-the-art cut-to-length processing equipment by adjusting speeds and feeds to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality production.
Play a key role in delivering quality products by interpreting customer and production specifications and ensuring materials are processed to exact dimensions and tolerances.
Visually identifying material alloys, forms, sizes, surface conditions, and obvious material defects.
Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and verniers prior to cutting to verify material specifications and ensure every product meets the highest quality standards before processing.
Measure the dimensions of material per quality sampling plan to ensure accuracy of cuts.
Safely load, unload, and move package material to designated areas using motorized material handling equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts.
Examine completed work pieces for defects and to verify conformance to customer specifications.
Stack and sort finished products for packaging, processing and shipment.
Package and protect material for shipment.
Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment by cleaning cut to length line according to designated maintenance procedures.

Requirements & Qualifications

***This is a SAFETY SENSITIVE position: requires operating heavy machinery.***

High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Warehouse, material handling, and forklift experience preferred.
Must be able to read, understand and carry out work instructions.
A consistent high level of attention to detail is required.
Must have basic knowledge of math (i.e. add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions and decimals) for calculating yields.
Experience related to the duties of operating a saw is strongly preferred.
Able to pass background check, drug screen, physical, meet physical requirements of the position.
- Ability to pass a human performance evaluation to meet physical requirements of the job (lifting up to 70 lbs., pushing, pulling, etc.)
