Senior OpenStack Cloud Architect

You have spent years building and running private cloud infrastructure that engineering teams actually depend on to ship products, not proof-of-concept environments that look good in slides. You know OpenStack inside and out because you have debugged it at 2 a.m., scaled it under load, and automated deployments that other people said required manual intervention. When Nova misbehaves or Neutron networking gets tangled, you do not escalate, you dig in.

You think in infrastructure as code. Ansible playbooks are how you express intent, and you have strong opinions about role structure and when Jinja2 templates make things better versus worse. You have learned that the best architecture is the one that survives contact with real users, real workloads, and real SLAs, and you design accordingly.

Working across teams does not slow you down. You can translate what a developer needs into what the infrastructure can actually deliver, and you do it without creating friction. You document not because someone told you to, but because you have seen what happens when the next person has to reverse-engineer your work. At Synopsys, you will be building and scaling the private cloud infrastructure that powers chip design and software security tools used across the company.

• Build, release, and manage production and test infrastructure on OpenStack, handling compute, storage, and network provisioning across multiple environments
• Design and implement automated infrastructure blueprints using Ansible, writing playbooks and roles that deploy and configure OpenStack services reliably and repeatably
• Troubleshoot and resolve OpenStack service issues across Nova, Neutron, Keystone, and Designate in live production environments under SLA commitments
• Collaborate directly with Cloud infrastructure engineers, IT functional teams, and internal developer groups to size, scale, and optimize infrastructure for real workloads
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and runbooks that enable the IT support team to manage and troubleshoot the platform effectively
• Work with architects and engineering teams to recommend and integrate process improvements, architecture patterns, and tooling that increase reliability and reduce manual toil
• Ensure infrastructure deployments comply with Synopsys security policies, working within established frameworks to protect stakeholder data and system access

• Enable engineering teams across Synopsys to deploy and scale workloads on private cloud infrastructure that meets their performance and availability requirements
• Reduce deployment time and configuration drift by automating infrastructure provisioning and orchestration across production and test environments
• Improve platform reliability and uptime by building monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting workflows that catch issues before they affect users
• Create reusable infrastructure blueprints and automation that other teams can adopt, multiplying the value of your work across the organization
• Strengthen the security posture of cloud infrastructure by embedding compliance and access controls into automated deployment processes
• Accelerate incident resolution by documenting architecture decisions, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides that empower the broader IT team
• Drive architectural improvements that make the platform more scalable, maintainable, and aligned with how engineering teams actually work

• 8+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with at least 5 years focused on OpenStack deployment, administration, and troubleshooting in production environments
• Deep hands-on experience with OpenStack services including Nova, Neutron, Keystone, and Designate, including the ability to debug and resolve service-level issues
• Strong Linux administration skills across Ubuntu, Rocky, Alma, and RHEL 8/9/10, including system-level troubleshooting and performance tuning
• Proven experience with Ansible for infrastructure automation, including writing playbooks, designing roles, and working with Jinja2 templates
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience in infrastructure or systems engineering
• Experience with one or more major public cloud providers like Azure, AWS, or GCP is a strong plus
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Alert Manager, and Grafana, or experience with databases like MySQL or InfluxDB, adds significant value

• You can walk into a production outage, quickly isolate whether the issue is in Nova, Neutron, or somewhere else in the stack, and resolve it without creating downstream problems
• You write automation that other engineers can read, modify, and trust, because you know that playbooks you write today will be maintained by someone else six months from now
• You manage multiple projects without losing track of details, prioritizing based on impact and urgency rather than who asked loudest
• You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating infrastructure constraints into language that makes sense for developers and business users
• You push back when a request does not align with architectural principles or security policies, and you do it in a way that moves the conversation forward rather than shutting it down
• You stay current with OpenStack releases, Linux distributions, and automation tooling because you know that infrastructure does not stand still
