DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on providing hands-on personal care, assisting with daily tasks, and supporting a clean, safe environment for residents in a long-term care setting. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:
- Resident Support: Assist residents with daily living activities, monitor conditions, and report changes to nursing staff
- Personal Care: Help residents with bathing, grooming, transfers, toileting, feeding, and restorative activities
- Safety Practices: Apply safety devices, record vital information, and support resident mobility and monitoring
- Unit Assistance: Prepare beds, manage linens, collect specimens, maintain cleanliness, and restock supplies
- Room Maintenance: Support clean, organized resident rooms and address safety concerns with supervisors
- Resident Orientation: Assist with admissions, transfers, introductions, and organization of personal belongings

- Full-time employment, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days and be required to work every other weekend.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
- DMVA is pleased to announce the launch of a Nursing Referral Program, promoting the hiring and retention of nursing staff at Pennsylvania's veterans homes. Under this program, both referring employees and referred candidates may be eligible for payments of up to $4,000.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
- Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
- This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualification (not required):
- Previous long term care experience
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
