Job Title: Software Engineer II

Duration: 8+ months

Location: Remote EST Hours

Summary:

  • ReqTool is client's internal requirements management platform for XR hardware and software programs. It handles enumeration and ownership of functional and non-functional requirements, traceability between documents and HW/SW components, and activity logging and change control.
  • ReqTool models the real structure of multi-build hardware programs. Its users are systems engineers, architects, TPMs, and CV/ML feature teams who own Engineering Requirements Specifications (ERS) documents, compiled into per-device Projects. These are technical, high-context users working in dense, deeply interlinked data - the design challenge is making a graph of thousands of requirements legible and safely editable.

Top 3 must-have HARD skills:

  • Experience designing data-dense enterprise or internal tooling - tables, graphs, hierarchies, admin surfaces
  • Strong Figma skills including components, variants, and design-system contribution
  • 4+ years UX/product design experience with a portfolio of shipped work

Good to have skills:

  • Experience with requirements management, PLM, ALM, or traceability tools (DOORS, Jama, Polarion, or similar)
  • Familiarity with hardware development or systems engineering processes (V-model, verification, change control boards)
  • Background in developer tools or technical enterprise software. Prototyping ability for validating complex interactions

What you'll do:

  • You'll work across a rolling set of focused design problems, typically delivered in 1-2 weeks.
  • Redesign individual screens and user flows - document creation, requirement editing, dependency linking, coverage views
  • Improve dense table and graph views: information hierarchy, filtering, bulk actions, empty and error states
  • Take a short problem statement, scope it independently, and propose an approach before designing
  • Turn engineer- and TPM-reported friction (including bugs and feedback) into concrete design fixes
  • Produce dev-ready specs and partner with engineers through build and QA
  • Sequence your own work against milestones and keep status visible to a distributed team

Minimum qualifications:

  • 4+ years UX/product design experience with a portfolio of shipped work
  • Proven experience designing data-dense enterprise or internal tooling - tables, graphs, hierarchies, admin surfaces
  • Strong Figma skills including components, variants, and design-system contribution
  • Track record of self-directed work with multiple concurrent deliverables and light supervision
  • Ability to interview technical users and translate domain complexity into clear interfaces
  • Excellent written communication in an async environment
