Internship Program

Conti Federal Services is accepting internship applications for a Finance Intern position. We are looking for Spring, Fall, and Summer interns. During your internship, you will collaborate with a diverse team of professionals to build upon the skills you are learning through your education.

* Competitively paid internship.

* Housing, meals, incidentals, and local transportation may be provided in accordance with your offer letter, where applicable.

* Company-paid mid-point rotation home, where applicable.

* Flexible hours - full-time and part-time positions available.

General Position Description

The Finance Intern works with both the Corporate Accounting team and the Project Accounting team. They support the monthly close, account reconciliations, and reporting on the corporate side, and job-cost tracking, billing support, and project reporting on the project side. They will learn how a construction ERP records cost, billing, and the general ledger, and how those pieces connect at month-end. They will also develop an understanding of how project forecasts and billings flow into corporate financial statements.

The intern reports into Finance in Orlando and will be assigned work by the Director of Accounting and the project-accounting lead (CFO or Director of Project Accounting). Time is expected to be shared between the two groups over the term of the internship.

Responsibilities

Corporate Accounting

* Assist with month-end and year-end close: pull support, prepare workpapers, and help with prepaid, accrual, and amortization schedules.

* Prepare or update assigned balance-sheet reconciliations and flag reconciling items for the staff accountant or Director of Accounting.

* Help generate, format, and check reports from the ERP used in monthly reporting packages.

* Assist with AP/AR support as assigned (invoice coding checks, backup assembly, payment-run support) under established controls. The intern does not approve payments.

* Maintain files and simple procedure notes for assigned close tasks.

* Support audit or internal-request pull lists when asked.

Project Accounting

* Help project accountants gather cost backup, committed-cost support, and change-order documentation.

* Assist with job-cost reports, billing backup, and unbilled/retainage schedules.

* Support updates to project reporting packs (cost vs. budget, simple variance notes) under a project accountant's review.

* Help track extra-work / change-order billing formats and make sure owner changes are reflected in the files used by Finance.

* Learn how field documentation (timesheets, invoices, subcontracts, POs) posts to the job and then to the ledger.

* Ensure documentation is clear and complete so Accounting and Project Accounting can both rely on it.

Shared

* Rotate between corporate close work and project-accounting work as assigned each week.

* Document the steps for each recurring task so the next intern or staff member can follow them.

* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* For security-clearance requirements - must be a U.S. citizen, as required.

* Enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

* Coursework in financial accounting preferred; construction or managerial accounting a plus.

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (pivot tables and basic formulas expected).

* Interest in both general-ledger accounting and project/job-cost accounting.

* Strong organization and time management; able to handle close deadlines and project-team requests in the same week.

* Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable asking for the next piece of backup.

* Team-oriented; works with AP, payroll, project accountants, and project staff as needed.

* Working knowledge of a construction ERP or job-cost system is a plus, not required.
