Job Summary

Provides comprehensive health care, education and customer service to include primary care, gynecological and transgender services primarily to the student population. May include care of CU Boulder faculty, staff and their dependents and on urgent occasions, treatment to injured or ill University visitors. Position provides team based support to providers, improves efficiency and productivity to Medical Services. This position assists the provider(Physician/APN) to aide in clinic flow, productivity and continuity of care to patients and CU Boulder community.

Medical Services staff understand and are committed to the unique health concerns of our student population, making us an unparalleled source of advocacy for student wellness! Medical Services provides a wide range of health care services for students for primary care, physicals, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, allergy shots, vaccinations, travel health care, and concussion care. Our skilled team of providers collaborate to support the overall health of our students with our team of physicians/nurses, physical therapists, registered dietitians, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and massage therapists.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Provider Support/Patient Care/Customer Service:
Interview patients to identify primary complaints, collect appropriate vital signs, and record relevant medical history in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) during the patient intake process. Gather historical data on previous allergies, update the patient's medication list, document significant medical history, family medical history, and identify learning barriers. Charge and chart all procedures, treatments, and medications administered, implementing the provider's treatment plan for patients of all ages (primarily late adolescents and early adulthood population). Assist in direct patient care procedures, administer prescribed medications and immunizations, and support nurses and providers during procedures based on competencies in Medical Services. Be familiar with the location of the crash cart and available to assist RN and Provider staff in a code situation as delegated. Responsible for daily and as-needed stocking of exam rooms, including infection prevention and cleaning between patients.
Point of Care:
Perform Point of Care (POC) tests on patients regularly, ensuring compliance with CLIA regulations. Competency tests are conducted annually to maintain compliance. POC tests are documented in the EMR for accurate charting and charging.
EMR Documentation:
Document and charge in the EMR all procedures, POC tests, treatments, and medications administered. Conduct random audits of Medical Assistant charts twice per year to meet AAAHC standards.

What You Should Know

This position is 100% full-time from August 1st - May 31st, and 50% part-time during June 1st - July 31st.

The salary for this role is $41,600 - $53,558 annually, based on years of Medical Assistant certification.

What We Require

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution by date of hire and eligibility to obtain Medical Assistant registration/certification upon hire.
  • BLS certificate upon hire.

What You Will Need

The position requires basic functional computer skills (experience of Windows based systems).

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Preferred 1 year of Medical Assisting experience and Active Medical Assistant Certification
  • Active Medical Assistant registration or certification such as:
    • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) and proof of current membership from American Medical Technologists (AMT)
    • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and proof of current membership from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
    • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and proof of current membership from National Health career Association (NHA)
    • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) and proof of current membership from National Certified Competency Testing (NCCT)
