Payroll Clerk - Direct Hire

Shift: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Salary: $40,000-$60,000

Join a growing team as a Payroll Clerk responsible for processing payroll, managing payroll tax reporting, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional with experience handling payroll tax filings, employee records, and payroll administration in a fast-paced office environment. Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
  • Payroll certification or additional accounting coursework is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll software required


Experience Requirements



  • Minimum 2 years of payroll processing experience preferred
  • Experience preparing and filing Form 941 and Form 940 tax returns required
  • Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, wage and hour compliance standards
  • Experience with payroll tax reporting and payroll reconciliations
  • Strong data entry, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential employee and payroll information
  • Multi-state payroll experience preferred
  • Accounting or bookkeeping experience is a plus


Physical Capabilities



  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Frequent use of computers, calculators, and office equipment
  • Ability to perform repetitive data entry tasks with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong attention to detail while managing multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work a full-time office schedule


Job Duties



  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, garnishments, and benefit withholdings
  • Prepare and file federal payroll tax forms, including Forms 941 and 940
  • Reconcile payroll taxes and ensure timely payment of tax liabilities
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, direct deposits, and wage information
  • Process new hires, terminations, pay adjustments, and employee status changes
  • Verify timesheets and ensure proper approvals and coding
  • Respond to employee payroll, tax, and benefits inquiries
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
