Description
See the Details. Protect the Quality. Make It Count.

At Mayville Engineering Company (MEC), quality isn't something we leave to chance. It takes sharp eyes, accurate measurements, and people who care about getting things right. Every inspection and every measurement helps ensure we deliver products our customers can trust.

We're looking for a Quality Technician I who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys working with technical details, and understands the importance of doing things right the first time. You'll inspect and test products, operate measurement equipment, document results, and work with our team to identify potential issues before they become bigger problems.

If you're detail-oriented, comfortable working with numbers, and ready to play an important role in manufacturing quality, MEC could be the place for you.

Here's Where You'll Make a Difference

  • Be the Eyes for Quality: Inspect products throughout the manufacturing process to verify they meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and established standards.

  • Measure What Matters: Use inspection tools and measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparators, and other specialized testing equipment.

  • Put the Numbers to Work: Record test results and apply statistical process control procedures when applicable to help monitor product and process performance.

  • Catch the Details: Identify, document, and report deviations from established standards so potential quality issues can be addressed.

  • Keep Equipment Accurate: Support the calibration of tools and gauges to help maintain reliable inspection results.

  • Help Resolve Quality Issues: Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities, product containment, and sorting efforts as directed by the Quality team.

  • Work From the Blueprint: Read and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, and applicable standards to determine whether products meet required specifications.

  • Keep Documentation on Point: Maintain accurate inspection records, test data, and reports that support quality assurance and compliance efforts.

  • Be Part of the Solution: Work with the Quality team and manufacturing personnel to support consistent processes and dependable products.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

  • At least one year of experience in manufacturing or engineering.

  • Familiarity with quality inspection tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings related to metal manufacturing.

  • Basic mathematical skills and the ability to evaluate inspection and testing results.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately record and communicate findings.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and respond to questions.

  • A commitment to accuracy, teamwork, and maintaining high quality standards.

The Job, Beyond the Job Description

This role involves hands-on inspection work in a manufacturing environment. Depending on your assignment, you should be able to:

  • Occasionally lift and frequently move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • Perform activities such as pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and reaching as needed throughout an 8-12-hour shift.

  • Stand and walk on concrete floors throughout an 8-12-hour shift.

  • Work in areas where noise levels may require hearing protection.

Safety and proper use of required protective equipment are important parts of the job.

Why MEC? Because the Details Make a Difference.

At MEC, quality is a team effort, and your work helps make it happen. As a Quality Technician I, you'll play a hands-on role in protecting our standards, supporting our manufacturing teams, and ensuring the products we deliver meet customer expectations.

  • Your Attention to Detail Matters: Help identify issues, prevent defects, and keep quality at the forefront.

  • Your Skills Keep Growing: Build your inspection knowledge and gain experience with manufacturing processes and measurement equipment.

  • Your Work Has Purpose: Know that your measurements, documentation, and observations help protect the products we deliver.

  • Your Team Makes You Stronger: Collaborate with Quality and Production to work through challenges and find solutions.

  • Your Future Has Potential: Strengthen your skills and build a foundation for continued growth in manufacturing and quality.
