Per Diem Patient Service Representative - Ambulatory Float Team

Description

As a part of the Ambulatory Float Pool Team, you provide administrative and patient care support to various ambulatory practices. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • assisting in coordinating patient flow throughout the clinic, from registration to discharge
  • processing prior authorizations and completing Surgery Scheduling tasks
  • working as a member of the Ambulatory Care clinic team to provide smooth outpatient flow resulting in optimum patient satisfaction and clinic operation
  • supporting different teams/practices to cover illnesses, holidays, and leaves of absence
  • provide direct patient care for diverse patient population within the ambulatory practices, working with clinic management, administration, physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, nursing staff, patient services staff and ancillary personnel

We are looking for highly flexible, enthusiastic and proactive individuals with the ability to travel to all UCLA Community practices throughout the greater Southern California area.

As a per diem employee, you must be able to provide availability at least one month in advance. The minimum requirement will be 2 shifts - 16 hours per week including one weekend per month. Days and hours will vary depending on assignments.

Salary range: $31.06-$31.06 Hourly

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to travel to various UCLA Health locations
  • Availability to work various days/shifts and occasional weekends
  • Must be able to provide availability at least one month in advance with 2 shifts-16 hours per week including one weekend per month
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of major medical insurance plans and types of coverage provided
  • Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with Faculty, Staff, Administration, and patients from various social, cultural, and economic backgrounds
  • Skill in verbal communications to clearly convey complex problems in both formal and informal situations
  • Ability to interact diplomatically and sympathetically with a patient population in varying degrees of health
  • Ability to creatively integrate competing demands into a productive working environment
  • Skill in using a PC with associated programs including Word, Excel, and E-mail, demonstrated work experience with a database computer program

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of specific specialty practice and workflows
  • Working knowledge of patient related policies and procedures as well as a thorough understanding of the University system and its services and programs
  • Knowledge of hospital computer system, personal computer systems, and the various software products to perform administrative work
  • Familiarity and knowledge of authorization process and managed care programs
